Dear Golden Valley Residents, Neighbors and Friends,

It’s hard to believe that six years have passed since I last had the honor of serving on the Golden Valley City Council. During my time on the Council, I learned a great deal about how our city works and most importantly, about what matters most to residents. I worked hard to listen and be responsive, and my love for this community has only grown stronger. I remain deeply committed to ensuring Golden Valley continues to be a great place to live, work, and play.

Golden Valley has always been home for me. I grew up here, taught school, coached, raised my children, and own a Golden Valley small business. These experiences give me a unique perspective — both as a lifelong resident and as someone who understands our history, challenges, and opportunities. My focus is simple: to work tirelessly on behalf of a strong, vibrant Golden Valley for all.

Much was accomplished during my time on the Council, but with new challenges come new opportunities to serve. That is why I’ve decided to run again.

Over the past few years, Golden Valley has seen more than 50 employees leave our city — an exodus that is neither normal nor healthy. Employee surveys raised troubling concerns with upper management: a lack of respect, trust, honesty, transparency, and communication within City Hall. Our employees are the backbone of our community, and these issues must be addressed with accountability and action.

Equally important is fiscal responsibility.  Residents deserve better stewardship of taxpayer dollars and how it is being spent. 

I believe that if we are to move Golden Valley forward in a positive, and professional way, we must work together toward one common goal: building transparency, understanding and trust in everything we do.

Earlier this year, I stood up for transparency and accountability when I took the city to court over a data practices violation — and I won. I represented myself, while the city hired outside legal counsel. Again, Golden Valley deserves better!

As we look to the future, I am committed to serving all of Golden Valley. We must continue to provide essential services for seniors, maintain our infrastructure and parks, work on the needs of our police, fire and city services,  all while addressing our debt. Our growing diversity is a strength, and I will always strive to be a voice for every resident.
